Yarning Space – December – Celebrating carers
Join AJ Williams-Tchen and special guests for some music, comedy and storytelling in an end-of-year special yarning circle. Guests include traditional owner and Elder Aunty Di (Wurundjeri), Ally Walker and comedian Janty Blair.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)
Are you caring for a child who is, or you suspect is, affected by FASD? Children with FASD have complex needs and require FASD-informed support in order to learn, communicate and thrive. This workshop will support carers’ knowledge to support their needs.
Youth Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid
This course has been developed with extensive First Nation consultation and research by Mental Health First Aid Australia and will be facilitated by the award-winning AJ Williams-Tchen (Wiradjuri) Mental Health Social Worker, Nurse and Youth Worker.

Carer Kafe is a place to gather with like-minded people and to get practical knowledge and support so you can manage the challenges with a fresh perspective.
It’s a welcoming place for home-based carers of children and young people in Victoria to come together, share, yarn and grow their confidence in caring for future generations. Carer Kafe provides free learning and development opportunities for Victorian kinship, permanent and accredited foster carers. Online and in person sessions are delivered by specialists across a broad range of topics to support carers in their critical role.
Carer Kafe is hosted by three agencies working in partnership: The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, Kinship Carers Victoria and Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency and funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
