About Carer KaFÉ

Carer KaFÉ is funded to provide learning and development opportunities to statutory kinship carers, accredited foster carers and permanent carers across Victoria. Delivered by expert trainers and based upon principles of therapeutic care, trauma, healing, and connection to culture, Carer KaFÉ ensures there are many valuable opportunities for those just starting their caring journey, to carers with years of experience.

From launching in April 2017, Carer KaFÉ has provided a range of training and support to carers all across the state, ensuring they obtain the knowledge, skills, and tools required to best care for the vulnerable children in home-based care. This training crosses over five domains and includes that of Kinship Care Experience, Foster Care Experience, Caring for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Child, Foundations of Care, and Specialist Topics.

The Carer KaFÉ program is hosted by three agencies working in partnership: The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, VACCA, and Kinship Carers Victoria and supported by a Governance Group (GG) which includes the following organisations:
