About Carer KaFÉ

To best care for Victoria’s children and young people in kinship and foster placements, carers themselves need support to access learning and development opportunities.

Who we are

We are a small team who source amazing international trainers to deliver learning and development opportunities which are hosted by Community Service Organisations across Victoria. Our opportunities are all based upon principles of therapeutic care, trauma informed, principles of healing and connection to culture as a vital part of care.

What we do

We are funded to provide learning and development opportunities to statutory kinship carers and accredited foster carers across Victoria. Our opportunities range from face to face sessions, online modules, camps and retreats, cultural days, accredited units and conferences. Our goal is to provide valuable learning opportunities to carers, from those just starting their caring journey to carers with years of experience under their belts.

Our training sessions cross over five domains:

  • The Kinship Care Experience
  • The Foster Care Experience
  • Caring for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Child
  • Foundations of Care
  • Specialist Topics
