Fostering resilience in children and young people in care

Wednesday 12 February

10.00am – 11.30am

Zoom online

Join Michael Place for a 90-minute session designed to support carers in identifying and building resilience traits in children and young people.

As a result of participating in this training, you will

  • Be able to identify and promote resilience traits in young people
  • Help young people become the best versions of themselves
  • Feel better prepared for your caring responsibilities.

After spending time in foster care himself, Michael dedicated his research to uncover what created positive outcomes for young people during and after care. Fostering resilience is a combination of his personal story and his professional findings in positive psychology research. Carers can expect to learn powerful evidence-based insights through a narrative lens. At the end of the session, Carers will complete a “Fostering Resilience Check List” to support their day-to-day resilience building activities.

The session is designed for kinship, foster and permanent carers.
