Enhancing home life through Regulation, Rhythm and Resilience
This pre-recorded 45 minute training session is presented by Megan Corcoran, Director of the Wagtail Institute.
In this session, carers will learn:
- How to recognise their stress response and the stress response of the children and young people in their care
- Understanding the impact of trauma on the stress response
- Useful self-regulation and co-regulation strategies
- The importance of rhythm (and routines) for trauma-impacted young people
- Rhythmic activities to support regulation and resilience
- Developing family life routines (the rhythm of the day to day and week)
Carers will be taken through the process of identifying their own regulation strategies, choosing rhythmic activities to embed in the week, and making a plan for a daily (or weekly) routine with the children and young people in their care.
This session focuses on the wellbeing of children/young people and the wellbeing of carers.
Megan spent many years teaching and leading in schools for young people who have experienced trauma and significant disadvantage. She has also studied a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology, investigating how belonging can provide healing and improve outcomes after experiences of childhood trauma. Megan has expertise in trauma-informed practice and her work is grounded in wellbeing science.
