Mental Illness will most likely affect us all at some point in our life - be that directly or indirectly through our clients, friends or family members. Join us as we clarify the symptoms, causes and treatments for some of the major mental illnesses.depr

After completing the session you will:

  • Understand various mental health issues, such as ADHD, ASD, FASD, depression and anxiety.
  • Understand how to spot warning signs of mental health problems and respond appropriately.
  • Understand mental health crisis situations: suicidal thoughts and behaviours, panic attacks, severe effects of drug or alcohol use, psychotic states, aggressive behaviours.
  • How to provide initial help (mental health first aid) and when and where to seek professional help.
  • Tips on having difficult conversations about mental health.
  • How to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.
  • Distinguishing between mental health diagnosis and trauma
