Lifestory work? "Traumatised children are not monsters, they have had monstrous things happen to them"

Trauma, rejection and hurt leave their mark on the child - often invisible to us - unless we know where to look. Whether you are a new carer or a seasoned professional, this special single-day training session, developed by Richard Rose, Director of Child Trauma Intervention Services, is designed to consider and promote the essence of care for hurt children to peel back the layers, and to contribute to the child’s recovery through therapeutic messages, role modelling and dedication.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identifying what recovery looks like for traumatised children
  • Understanding your role in the recovery work and learning life of the child
  • The importance of therapeutic interventions with children and young people - life story work; Theraplay; talking therapies and sensory approaches; the PACE Model
  • Implementing play activities
  • Identifying and encouraging healthy behaviour
  • Demonstrating the importance of promoting peer and adult relationships for children
