 st\, it is because the child has an underlying need that they are attempti
 ng to meet in the best way they know how. With Positive Behaviour Support 
 (PBS)\, we use scientifically validated methods to try to understand what 
 that unmet need is\, and to have that need met so that there is literally 
 no need for the individual to resort to behaviours that cause a problem to
  themselves or others around them.\nMeeting the unmet need may involve cha
 nging the individual’s environment\, teaching the individual new skills an
 d/or changing the supports we provide to the individual. The end result is
  that the person’s quality of life has improved\, the behaviour problems r
 educe and therefore the need to use more restrictive or punishment driven 
 strategies is eliminated.\nAs the developmental level and age of a child i
 mpacts significantly the behavioural presentation and support needs of a y
 oung person. this program focuses specifically on understanding and respon
 ding to behaviour in children 9 - 18 years of age. There will be a focus o
 n how child and adolescent development for this age group can influence be
 haviour\, what is typical in this age cohort\, and the ways to understand 
 and respond appropriately to meet the needs of children 9 - 18 years of ag
