Carer Q&A Session #3: Hold My Hand - Supporting sons and daughters of Carers (Online) [EVENING SESSION]

Foundations of care

Foster Care Association of Victoria Q&A Series for carers

Support for all kids in a carer household

As the sons and daughters of carers, these children and young people are intimately involved in the fostering experience and often don’t get the support they need for this role.

When a foster / kinship or permanent care child enters a household where there are biological children it can be mutually rewarding.  However, it also presents new challenges to address.  Sons and daughters of carers often need to grow up and be mature beyond their years.

As a carer and parent of biological children join this discussion and explore how to support your children and provide them with the recognition and resources they need for a more positive fostering experience.

(There is also potential for participants to be a part of a future group session with the involvement of their biological children).

Presented by: Foster Care Association of Victoria

Please note that Carer KaFE can cover the cost of babysitting while you attend a Carer KaFE training session.  You need to organise for an approved babysitter via your agency.  This needs to be organised and approved by Carer KaFE before the training session.
