Caring for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Children

Gain skills for implementing stronger cultural connectedness for Aboriginal children in care. 

A hands-on day for carers and children to grow their understanding of Aboriginal culture through activities such as rock painting, flag making.  This session is open to all carers and the children in the care, including their biological children.  You don’t have to be caring for an Aboriginal child to come along.

Presented by: Danni Williams & Julie Jones

Danni Williams has worked in the community services sector for more than 20 years, including VACCA. Danni is an experienced social worker and has been teaching community services courses since 2013. Currently working at DFAT as a Cultural Support Team Leader.

Julie Jones has worked 5 years in the community services sector, including VACCA, and is an experienced community service worker and Counsellor. Julie has worked for 17 years in the Child Education sector and as a guest speaker at various educational institutes sharing her cultural knowledge. Presently working with workers and families to develop Cultural Support Plans and children’s connection to culture.
