Achieving Compassion Satisfaction (Online)

Specialist topics

A fundamental driver for carers is their empathy for the children and young people in their care. But what happens when their empathy goes unregulated and consequently causes levels of distress and/or burnout?

Michael Place will be zooming in from the US to run a new three-part program looking at compassion fatigue.  This program explores how carers can manage their wellbeing while working with vulnerable children and young people.

The first session was held on Wednesday 24th August and was really well received. Michael shared a TED talk - How to Manage Compassion Fatigue in Caregiving by Patricia Smith, which was very thought provoking & generated a lot of discussion.  Click here to VIEW.

Don't worry if you missed week 1 and 2, you can still join us for Week 3 - How to Achieve Compassion Satisfaction in Caregiving on Wednesday 7th September at 12pm to 1.15pm.

This session looks at ways to address compassion fatigue in the home-based care environment and will provide carer centred strategies to take away and implement now into your life.

Please note that Carer KaFÉ can cover the cost of babysitting while you attend a Carer KaFÉ training session.  You need to organise for an approved babysitter via your agency.  This needs to be organised and approved by Carer KaFÉ at least one week prior to the training session.
