As carers you spend a lot of time focusing on others.  This evening session is about you!  This session gives you permission to take a few hours for yourself, to come together with other carers, to share some yummy food, to relax and learn about the importance of self-care.

5.30pm: Registration & hot food served

6pm - 8pm: Carer Wellbeing

Research around mindfulness and meditation shows it can reduces stress and can improve stress related medical problems such as anxiety and even chronic pain.  It can also build the brains capacity to be more attentive.

So, if you've spent the day with Nathan learning all about your children's brains and how to navigate their moods and behaviours, come along and join Tessa & Deb from FCAV for a night of peace and relaxation.

Tessa is FCAV’s CISS Manager.  Tessa is a former meditation teacher who ran a Mediation business for 5 years offering a variety of opportunities in a range of settings including schools, hospitals, and corporate organisation prior to leading the support team at FCAV. Tessa has experience working for DHHS and the non-government sector for over 20 years prior to joining the FCAV team.

Deb is a Program Coordinator for FCAV. In this role, she helps design and run support groups and training for carers.  Including Carer Retreats, Cultural Days & Carer Wellbeing training. She has extensive experience in foster carer recruitment, training and assessment. As well as running the 'I Care 2' and 'Hold My Hand' groups at Berry Street, she facilitated a therapeutic playgroup and a girls group.  Deb grew up in a caring family and has firsthand experience of being a daughter of foster carers.
