CARING FOR CARERS – navigating compassion fatigue for carers

Specialist topics

This training is designed to empower caregivers by exploring their emotional needs, enhance their coping strategies to meet the challenges of kinship, permanent and foster caring, and develop a profound sense of purpose and resilience along their caregiving journeys.

It will be presented by Michael Place, who experienced nine years in foster care from ages nine to eighteen. Since leaving foster care, Michael has gone on to earn his Masters Degree in Psychology and become a Wellbeing Specialist. This program blends his personal experiences with insights from his research; presenting a unique blend of theory, and practical examples carers can work with. Participants can expect to depart with a renewed sense of purpose and zeal for both their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of the young people under their care.

Michael delivered this workshop in 2022. All carers who completed the evaluation form, said they would recommend the training to other kinship, permanent and foster carers.
