Identifying and Responding to Drug Use for Carers - Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) Online Training

This online training targets all carers but particularly those who are currently caring for young people who are using alcohol or other drugs.  It will introduce carers to different drugs and their effects.  These will be placed in the context of current trends and patterns of use amongst young people.

The online training will explore why young people in out of home care are vulnerable to using alcohol or other drugs and provide strategies to reduce these vulnerabilities.  Carers will be provided with ways to recognise when a young person may be using substances and practice ways to open up and continue conversations up about this. You will be provided with practical information about reducing risks and harms associated with substance use, as well as strategies that can be used to promote change.

The online training takes between 1 - 2 hours to complete.
