Grief in Children and Young People

Specialist topics

In this training, Griefline facilitators Shelley and Salomie explore grief in children and young people. Starting with the kinds of losses children and young people experience, we move on to look at how grief shows up, from infancy through to the teen years. We identify behaviours that typically result from grief and understand that what we might generally think of as a child ‘acting out’ or ‘behaving badly’ is actually happening because of their grief. We then conclude by learning age-appropriate ways of helping children and young people to manage their grief, so they can heal and live full lives.

The session is designed for kinship, foster and permanent carers.
