Yarning Space - Session 3

Caring for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Children

Importance of connection to culture, community, and family for young people in care

(Third in a series of 3 yarning spaces. Carers are welcome to register for 1, 2 or 3 sessions. Other sessions are on 2 May and 9 May.)

Date: Thursday 16 May 2024

Time: 8pm - 9pm

Location: Zoom online

When children and young people can’t live with their families, for whatever reason, their connection to culture, community and family is paramount to their identify and sense of self. This is as important for First Nations children and young people as it is for all children and young people in care.

Join with AJ Williams-Tchen, a proud Wiradjuri / Wotjobulak Social Worker, Nurse & Youth Worker, Director of Girraway Ganyi Consultancy, nominee for Australian of the Year Victoria 2024 and winner of the Social Worker of the Year 2023 (Allied Health Awards) and Aboriginal Social Worker of the Year 2021 (AASW Excellence Awards) as he leads a discussion on this  important topic.

A 20-minute presentation followed by 40 minutes of yarning, facilitated by AJ.
